Gratitude! I know, again?

Yes, again, and this is why. When we practice gratitude, it grounds us, fills in the gaps, and makes us whole. Seriously, it does, and if you don’t believe me, I ask that you try it for yourself. Tomorrow morning when you wake, commit to paying attention to the following gratitude moments that many of us experience and yet don’t acknowledge:

·      First of all, did you wake up?

·      Did you awake in a bed? With blankets and a pillow? Are you comfy and warm?

·      Do you have four walls and a roof over your head? Does your home have heat?

·      Do you have a restroom? Is there a place to shower/bathe? Warm water? Soap? Can you brush your teeth?

·      Do you have a kitchen? Can you make yourself a cup of hot coffee as a way to start your day?

Okay, I think you get my point.

I laid it out like this because when I started to pay attention to the things that have just become givens in my life, I began to appreciate how fortunate and blessed I am. To be grateful for what we have does play into us having more. Gratitude is like buy one, get one free because when you live in a state of gratitude, what you work toward, gain, and obtain somehow multiples.

To live in a state of gratitude means to live in appreciation. I am sure many of you have moved mountains and traveled through valleys to have what you have, and I also know that life offers no one any guarantees. Today, take time to live in gratitude for what you have, and may tomorrow provide you even more.

Give yourself the gift of gratitude and write down five things you are grateful for that you may have taken for granted and just see how your awareness of them is now amplified.

In gratitude, today and always.
